Children’s Allergy

Children’s allergy is common. Most appear during childhood, but some appear later in life. Very often, it is impossible for us to find out what our children are allergic to. The most common allergy that children have is food allergy. The only way to find out is to do an allergy test.

What is children’s allergy?

Children’s allergy is an adverse reaction that occurs after eating certain food. It is driven by their own body’s immune system. In other words, their immune system does not like the food they consume, therefore produces antibodies against the food, known as immunoglobulin E (IgE). The next time they consume the same food, their immune system will release a huge amount of chemicals into their bloodstream causing an allergic reaction. Even a tiny amount of food can trigger an allergic reaction.

What are the symptoms of children’s allergy?

Common allergy symptoms include:

Skin

  • Rashes, hives, itching of the skin
  • Itching or tingling sensation in the mouth
  • Swelling of the face, lips, around the eyes, tongue, throat

Digestive system

  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Abdominal pain and diarrhoea

Lungs

  • Wheezing and nasal congestion
  • Difficulty in breathing

Circulatory system

  • Lightheadedness
  • Dizziness

Sometimes, children’s allergy can trigger a severe life-threatening reaction known as anaphylaxis. Symptoms and signs include:

  • Swollen tongue and throat
  • Tightening of airway
  • Difficulty in breathing
  • Severe wheezing
  • Drop in blood pressure

What are the common children’s allergies?

Children’s allergies are usually triggered by certain proteins present in the food. Common food allergies in children are:

  • Egg white
  • Peanut
  • Fish
  • Milk
  • Corn, etc.

How do we know which food our children are allergic to?

A lot of us are unable to determine the exact food our children are allergic to. Fortunately, we do not have to squeeze our brain trying to recall the details. There are simple tests we can do to pinpoint the exact content of the food our children’s immune system dislikes.

As mentioned earlier, their immune system produces antibody called IgE against certain food they consume. Therefore, if we can detect these specific IgE antibodies, we are able to find out which food they are allergic to.

This is simply known as the children’s allergy test. Only a blood sample is needed to carry out this test, and it can buy fml forte online. The results are useful for you and the doctors to manage the allergies appropriately.
